After School Sessions

Our sessions are held every Monday and Wednesday!

 

Mondays are at Brockenhurst Village Hall & MUGA

Wednesdays are at Jubilee Fields in Sway.

 

Each day has a different style of coaching, outlined below, to enable your child to get exactly what they want out of the session.

Focus on ONE sport per half-term, this half term is football.

Enables development and progression within the sport

Variety of different sports, challenges and games

Heavily focused on ABCs, teamwork and fun

Different activities each week

Sessions are bookable for either:

  • One single session

  • A block of multiple sessions booked in advance

Please book in advance over on our Booking page- we strongly advise pre-booking to ensure your child can attend the session. We will accept non-booked children, but this requires an admin fee and a registration form to be completed on the day.

SESSION GUIDELINES

To ensure our classes are in line with health and safety procedures and of the highest quality, we encourage parents/guardians to familiarise themselves with the following points: 

  • All of our classes are delivered by trained coaches. 

  • Please inform the coach of any medical conditions and/or special requirements your child may have before the session starts. 

  • Children should come in suitable sports wear including trainers. 

  • Hydration is important so your child must bring a drink along, as it can be thirsty work!  

  • To protect children, please refrain from taking photographs. This is in accordance with government child protection guidelines.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR FIRST SESSION

Our sessions focus strongly on social interaction, confidence building and team working through fun sports and game based activities.

 

The coaching team are both supportive and encouraging to children of all abilities to allow them to become comfortable and get the most out of their time with us.

Initially your child may be apprehensive to join in or follow the structure of the class, if so, don’t worry! This is perfectly normal and expected- each week is an opportunity for children to build friendships with each other and become familiar with session structures; enabling maximum fun!

Our Coaching Style

At DFJ Multisports, we're striving to develop the ABCs in the kids we coach:

 

  • AGILITY

  • BALANCE

  • CO-ORDINATION

These are the fundamentals to developing skills and techniques in a wide range of sports and form the basis for the PE national curriculum for schools in the UK.  We achieve this through different sports and games to enable children to advance in a particular sport or learn and experience a variation. We also aim to develop more than just sporting ability by working on other skillsets:

Physical Literacy  

Children need to learn basic skills of running, jumping and throwing in order to enhance sporting competence and confidence. Therefore, DFJ Multisports enhances athleticism through balance, co-ordination, speed and agility exercises. Our sessions with older children then progress to learning specific techniques of these skills in sports based games. Children will become competent, not just in athletics but in all sports that involve these fundamental physical skills.  

 
 

Cognitive Skills  

The cognitive element of our classes is highly important. Research has shown that a structured program of movement should be part of every child’s education. In our sessions with older children, we progress the cognitive element further by introducing two-step instructions and implementing these in sessions.  
 

 

Social Skills  

During sessions, we work on enhancing positive personality characteristics such as confidence, self-esteem, sharing and communicating. This is achieved with our excellent lesson plans and coaching methods. We believe that a positive introduction to sport is vital to encourage greater participation through life.
